ABOUT US

   About Us

Thame and District Housing Association was founded in 1964. We aim to provide high quality accommodation which is affordable and at as low a rent as can be achieved while meeting the need for high quality housing accommodation for elderly people in a sheltered setting. The Association wish to establish an environment which is quiet and supportive where tenants can feel that they are involved and they can enjoy their later years.

  • We built our first housing scheme, Croft Court in Thame, in 1966, consisting of 8 bedsits
  • Anstey Court in Waddesdon, originally 10 flats, followed in 1968 and was extended with a further 12 flats, common room, kitchen and guest flat in 1987 along with four more flats were at Playford Court in Thame.
  • Our largest scheme, Pearce Court in Thame, was first opened in 1978. Initially this was 19 flats, phase 2 being added in 1982 with a further 32 flats with a large common room, laundry and guest room.
  • In 2007 we built 14 leasehold flats at Summersbee Court, adjacent to Pearce Court.
  • In 2019 we bought land adjacent to Pearce Court, and are building a further 5 flats here, to be completed in Spring 2024.

The Association is incorporated as a Registered Society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 (ref MS16683R) and is registered (ref L1537) under the 1974 Housing Act with the Regulator for Social Housing and is an exempt charity.

The Association have decided to remain relatively small in order to serve our tenants better and to give them as great a quality of individual attention as possible. We now manage 111 units of accommodation – 96 of rental sheltered housing, 14 leasehold sheltered units, and 1 general needs property (held as potential key to a further development site).

Our scheme managers provide advice and support to residents, and facilitate connecting them with more specialist support or care when required. We provide a significant proportion of our maintenance services in house and tenants knowing our staff helps put them at ease and enables us to provide a higher quality of service. We also provide small amounts of time of our maintenance staff to help people move in and set up their home. The Association has a unique personal relationship with most of its residents, running regular social events, providing regular communal and Christmas meals and events.
