OUR HOUSING

   Our Housing

All our housing is designated as sheltered housing for older people with a local connection to Thame or Waddesdon areas. It is all self-contained flats or studio apartments within small blocks of flats. These all have facilities and services to make life easier for older people and enable them to maintain their independence.

All flats have telecare so that residents can contact help any time of any day in a health or maintenance emergency. We maintain and clean any communal areas of our schemes, such as hallways, gardens and parking areas.

We employ scheme managers who can check on the health and wellbeing of residents, provide advice and put them in touch with specialist agencies where required. These staff do not provide ‘care’ and have limited time, so residents must be normally capable of independent living.

We have centralised heating and hot water systems, the charges for which are paid as part of the charge for the flats, reducing the burden of managing these suppliers.

All our housing is let at Social Rent levels, meaning it is cheaper than open market rented property.

All flats are Council Tax A banded and, where residents are eligible for benefits such as Housing Benefit or Universal Credit, all rents are within levels that are fully eligible.

All residents also have to pay the service charge for services such as gardening, heating, maintaining the common areas etc.

Pearce Court and Summersbee Court - Thame

Pearce Court is our largest scheme. It comprises of 55 flats arranged in several ‘blocks’ around well maintained gardens. There is a shared lounge that residents can access along with a laundry and guest room, and ample parking. The scheme is a 3 minute walk to the centre of Thame town. Around half of the flats at Pearce Court are on the first floor and unfortunately there are no lifts.

Our main office is also situated on this site

Summersbee Court is on the same site as Pearce Court and is a leasehold scheme which we developed and now manage. These flats are sold through local estate agents on the open market.

Regular events are held to develop and expand the community feel of the scheme, including weekly meals, games afternoons and coffee mornings.
